Leagues

League competitions are team driven – your swimmer will compete as one Telford Aqua team against other clubs.

These are aimed at younger club swimmers and are perfect for introducing them to the world of competing! These galas are aimed at swimmers aged 8+ and generally no older than 13/14 years, depending on the specific league entered.

Swimmers can be registered with Swim England as either Club Train or Club Compete.

No times are recorded on your swimmers Swim England record and therefore cannot be used to enter Open Meets. There are upper limit QT’s specific to each age and stroke – Regional swimmers are not allowed to enter the league events.

Our league coordinator Claire will email information to those suitable to compete in the leagues. If you do not receive these emails and would like more information, please speak to your swimmer’s coach/teacher.

For 2024 we have entered just one league – SwimGainz Junior Development League. More information on upcoming rounds can be found on our Gala Calendar page. We would LOVE to see some new faces join us for the upcoming rounds 3 and 4! 🤩

The SwimGainz league is free to enter for the individual swimmers.

On the Day

The rounds take place on Saturday evenings and can last around 2 to 3 hours from warm up to finish. The exception to this is the final (if qualified) and take place throughout the day.

Swimmers are allocated either individual swims or relays where they compete with other swimmers in one race, and lots of cheering is encouraged – the relays are very exciting and can get quite loud! 📣💙💛

If you are attending but hesitant on what race/s your swimmer will be competing in, we encourage you to speak to your child’s teacher prior to discuss.

Warmups will be allocated before each round and managed by a Telford Aqua coach, therefore swimmers must arrive in good time prior to the start of the session.

All those competing will be looked after throughout the day by our qualified and DBS checked Team Managers, and swimmers will need to sign in and out with the allocated TM’s.

The Races

25m – Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke (8-9 years)

25m – Butterfly (8-10 years)

50m – Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke (10 – 14 years)

50m – Butterfly (11 – 14 years)

100m Individual Medley (13-14 years)
